Untitled

Site-specific Installation: Fabric, pillows, feathers, audio speakers, recording
Dimensions Variable

Untitled was installed in the former aviary attached to the historic residence which houses Burnaby Art Gallery. Recorded voice issued from speakers embedded in the structure, and wired in a sequence. The audio explored the overlap of identities across three generations of a family that were mistaken for one another in telephone conversations. It explored the themes of (mistaken) identification between the family members and the listeners, notions of privacy and possible betrayal, as they jokingly imitate one another’s inflection, vocabulary and cadence. Feathers filled the speaker cones and were activated by the sound vibrations.
